Kindergarten/ 1st grade (adult reads to kids):
Math:
- The Coin Counting Book. By Roxanne Lanczak Williams (includes all coins, and very basic introduction. Great for young money introduction)
Early Elementary (2nd-3rd grade /starting to read solo):
School:
- If You Hopped Like a Frog By David M. Schwartz (great for comparisons and proportions, includes fun facts about many animals)
- Fraction Fun. By David A Adler (a lot of words and very in depth. Would be best for adult to read to class to start off a fractions unit)
- giraffe math. By Stephen r Swinburne. (Excellent for giraffe enthusiasts of any age. May need adult to read due to some complex words, ie Isosceles and equilateral).
for fun:
- The curious garden. By Peter brown
3rd/4th:
math:
money Math addition and subtraction. By David a Adler (this would be great for more advanced math kids, but didn’t have money introduced just yet. It does have extra facts (like who’s on what coin/bills), includes coins as well as bills, and works through full equations for adding and making change.)
adults self interest:
- the foragers feast. By Leda Meredith (this is more advanced, for after you have been foraging and want to use your findings. It includes recipes, and nice photos. Perhaps not as quick to reference for what and where to find edibles though).
